IF: Shy

Image

For Illustration Friday’s word: Shy.

Being shy isn’t a bad trait, as some people would like to say…

I know how it is to be shy and sometimes it hurts to try and speak up, speak out, and express yourself. It doesn’t mean you’re stupid, or that you don’t have the same thoughts and characteristics as outspoken people. It’s just a horrible uncomfortable feeling to be around people sometimes, or to try and talk to complete strangers, or to even co-workers or your peers. When I’m around people I’m comfortable with I can be quite funny and loud and just generally like everyone else. But you wouldn’t know that if you just met me…

And you’d think as you get older the feeling of shyness goes away, but I feel it’s only gotten worse with me. As I take a look at what lies ahead for me, or if I try to start a career in art, it only frightens me and I stop dead in my tracks of progress. Maybe it is just fear and not shyness that makes me this way, but it’s something I must confront and stop it from controlling my life sometimes…

anyway, I know there are a lot of sensitive people in this world who are like me and it helps to have people in your life who understand how it feels to be sensitive. They can push you and give you a positive boost in a negative world…

Beware of the house with the red door!

Image

For Illustration Friday’s word, “haunt.”

Beware of the house with the red door… something lurks inside! I see a few pair of eyeballs and that door…that door, the color of BLOOD. The moon shines an ominous glow onto the house, where passer-by’s shutter, feel the hairs rise upon their backs. Beware of the house with the red door!! Something eerie dwells inside!

Happy Halloween everyone!

Crazy Eyeball Pumpkin

Image

so here’s the crazy eyeball pumpkin face I was talking about in the previous post. I completely forgot that we took pictures of it. I am anxious to get my pumpkin carving on! I’m not sure what I’ll do this year (this is Isaac’s pumpkin by the way..mine wasn’t as cool, I did the grim reaper). I think I’ll post another pumpkin tomorrow for the hell of it. Getting excited!!

here’s another one!

it’s a crazy pumpkin face!!

Image

It’s getting close to Halloween and my favorite all time thing to do is carve pumpkins. We do one every year. Last year I got these plastic looking eyeball party favors and got creative and stuck one of the eye balls into one of the pumpkins. It looked pretty freaking cool…and a little spooky too. My recreation of that pumpkin is not as scary. But…I thought he looked kinda …CRRRARAZY!

Courtesy Flush Please

Image

You are probably used to seeing a gnome in a garden or guarding the front porch steps, or just lying somewhere collecting dust in a garage. But… not this gnome. No…this gnome sits on top of the toilet…happily daydreaming in the corner. I never even noticed the damn gnome until the other day when I heard this:

“Courtesy flush please”

He’s not a tree spirit. He’s not a cutesy piece of kitsch in your garden. Nope. He’s the spirit of the toilet seat. I don’t think this will be the last we’ll hear from the gnome.

refresh!

Image

COFFEE…JOURNAL…refreshing isn’t it? Well, I thought so, that’s why I posted this for Illustration Friday’s word for the week.

Sometimes that’s all I need to start the day off right! A few words of thought and a few sips of enlightenment… I mean, coffee. The elixir of enlightenment. Well, some would say the elixir of irritable bowels and just plain irritable-ness! But I like that moment of “ahhh..” from my first sip.

Refreshing, isn’t it??

Whizzer!

Oh the fun rides you could have if you owned a WHIZZER! But I don’t…and you don’t, unless…you do?

I drew this for Isaac because he’s been wanting to put a motor on a bike, and these are about the coolest things, and are pretty much the idea of what he wants. Well, really he’d love a motorcycle. Something to go with his fiercely independent wild side! Oh wait, he is always fiercely independent.

I’ve been thinking of a mildly independent little moped myself, because I’m not that fierce and I’m not that wild. Oh what a pair though, I think he’d leave me behind in the dust! Hah.
