Barred Owl: Hide and Seek

If you read my previous bloggle,  I mentioned a barred owl on my walkabouts.  Well, I saw her and she was highly social this morning! It flew in front of me and we watched each other for a couple of minutes. So I walk on, just enthralled with its appearance and how it silently flew in my direction when I had been thinking about it all morning. Then as I turned onto another path on the trail it flew by me again. HOLY COW another sighting! Is this just the perfect time to see her in action or is she trying to get my attention? So she sits on top of an old broken tree top. I get my phone out but all I got was a very blurry picture of her.

Blurry barred owl

I told you if I brought my camera she wouldn’t be seen, so of course I didn’t. She was very curious of me because we just stared at each other. I think after awhile some crows were flying above and she turned away not interested in me anymore. Well, I hope she remembers me next time we play hide and seek!

Barn Owl Stareth

I woke up and wanted to draw an owl. Well, I’m hoping to go and see one where I do my normal walkabouts but why? We don’t have barn owls in this part of Texas,  but we do have barred owls! so maybe I should get that straight in my brain. And draw a barred owl.

The reason I was thinking specifically barn owls was a choppy memory. When I was a kid my uncle had a friend I think who set free an owl on my grandparent’s farm. And I know it was a barn owl but geez the memory almost seems like I dreamed it. I still think of that owl. Why?

Well, like I said, I’ve been following a barred owl on my walkabouts.  But you got to get there early or sometimes late afternoon.  She likes to sit on an old abandoned pathway bridge if you’re really looking. Sometimes you just don’t see her, that’s how hard it is to find owls! Plus they may be sleeping. Every time I bring my camera I never see her, so she does not like to be photographed is how I see it! I get so mad though I didn’t bring my camera and low and behold there she is!

This Birdo is Dancing in the Rain

Birdo is Dancing in the Rain

Dance, I tells ya. Dance! Even when it’s raining!

Life is always going to be messy. Total chaos and sadness!

I watched a movie recently where it’s set in a small town by the sea, and everyone is effected by this love letter that was left lying around a bookstore. And people keep finding it and thinking someone wrote it for them. Eventually you find out in the end who wrote it, but it’s an adorable film (adapted by a book by the same title, the Love Letter by Catheline Schine). I just thought the line that the character played by Tom Selleck (spelled his name right?) let me see if I can paraphrase:

Helen: Can you forgive me?

George:  Forgive you for what? For being human?

Messy, fucked up…that’s the good stuff, Helen.

I think everyone in the town is living, loving all because of this letter. And messing it all up in the process.

I’m truly dumb. In the heart. But I wish I owned my own bookstore or worked at one.
