Harvest Moon!

Hello Moon! I did an attempt at taking photos with my camera (a Nikon 3200) so it’s not like the new cameras out there that can take amazing night photography. But I think these have the eeriness of an October moon which you can’t get from precision baby! Okay! And I hope you got a chance to see the harvest moon. It’s always the best full moon of the year.

Red Dragonfly (oh my!)

What are the chances of seeing a red dragonfly? I see a lot of dragonflies especially on my walks…but I’ve never encountered a solid red dragonfly! Until now

It was magical …And adds more to my

July’s Merry Merry Wonderment!

You must create your own light. It’s all around you. Even just closing your eyes and facing the sun, let the warm sunshine cascade onto your body.

I am not the most positive person, I assure you. I pull myself out of dark corners daily. Please look up, look around you, you will find the light seeking you. Even if it’s just a small red insect. But you must be willing to look!

(Nothing But) Fungus! Again!

(And Trees) and parenthesis (again) but it’s really been a long time since I’ve shown you my mushroom findings. And a lot are just the same logs but just different times I’ve walked upon it. Here’s some recent findings! I love how they just pop out of nowhere and you really have to look closely. I love good dead logs that have been laying on the forest floor for a long time. It’s still giving so much life after its demise. And remember that, I suppose, whatever you want to think about death…I don’t want to get too philosophical, but trees are amazing and what would they say to us if we could communicate with them? and with fungi? What would the earth be like without trees? Well, we certainly wouldn’t be here…so yes, go hug a tree, dammit! (Even dead logs)! Watch out for the deadly fungus though! HAAH…okay, what irony though…giver of life and death…okay, no, I didn’t eat a magical mushroom! But I’m high on nature that’s for sure!

I wish I had a nature’s guide to fungus, so no, I don’t know what this is. This ain’t no scientific blog or anything, just a studying nature. But my ignorance isn’t flattering so I’m sorry I don’t know what any of these fungi are 😦

This wicked fungus is quite beautiful. And bugs were crawling on it, so I assume it’s not too poisonous (to insects anyway).

Okay, enough! but this was a weird one isn’t it? It’s so bizarre you want to touch it, but I didn’t, I promise!

Well, my friendly dead log with the white fungi I come across from time to time.

Ahhh, the trees!

Of course, had to put a puddle in the mix!

And this just looks like the gases of Jupiter! it was just too cool!

Sorry for all the photos, and I’m just in awe that I keep coming back to the same place and each time I find something new and interesting. I hope you find them just as fascinating.

(Nothing But) Flowers!

I would title this one (Nothing But) Flowers (if you get it you get) and for my flower studying. I’m not sure I’m studying flowers as much as I am just admiring their beauty. And how in each time of day (whether after a rainy afternoon and the sun comes in strongly or on a partly cloudy morning).

So here are some days of flower wandering wonderments. I did make that word plural so you can suck it red underline thing/dictionary that says that’s not a word! It’s merry wonderment time (again). Also there’s lot of parenthesis, parenthesises (parenthesi? then?)

I do love how the sun was coming through behind this little flower!

The sun was really that bright that day!

This was after a short afternoon rain and the sun was coming in.

Here’s some more brilliant flowers that day.

To me the way the camera captured it looks like a painting! Cool

The bees were busy today!

Greeted by the Great Heron

On my latest walkin’ wander about I spotted a great heron on the creek! Yes, these are the majestic birds I encountered flying above me one early morning, and we’re probably what I thought were cranes, and thus my crane energy/spirits were foiled. But not really, because these birds are just as majestic and beautiful. I almost missed it! I had circled back and spotted it on my way back! They’re so much larger than I thought because he got annoyed at me and flew up into a tree and then further down the creek. The wing span is massive!

I’m not sure you can see him but he’s hiding in a tree and then I spotted him further down the creek. I left him alone after that because he was busy trying to get him a meal, so I didn’t want to interfere!

And here are some puddles for your puddlin’ entertainment.

Happy walkin’ wandering abouts! I can’t wait to see what you’ll find in your nearest creek beds. Hmmm…?? is that a challenge?

And here’s just a quick doodle of the great heron. For GREAT HERON POWER! Maybe I am becoming the weird HERON birdo after all! It’s time to get back on the weirdo birdo obsession again.

May You Change

Nature has transformed since the dreary, solemn winter photos that I took in January/February. Of chilly puddles and barren trees? You must remember I posted 5,000 photos of the stuff. It’s quite a sight to witness nature’s seasons. We are so accustomed to the changes we may not really notice it. But on these walkabouts there is always something changing. Even the same fungi have changed! EVEN I HAVE CHANGED. It’s all a part of the seasons of life, even we must take part in them. We all must learn change.

Just look at all the light! and the green

DRAGONFLIES! and more green!

Okay, that’s enough for now. I’ll post some more dragonflies and the great blue heron I caught down at the creek. But for another day perhaps.

The Answer my Friend is Blowing in the Wind

Windy days, and warming days here in Texas. And my allergies are in panic mode. But even that doesn’t stop me from trying to find something to capture on my wander/walkabouts.

Bluebonnets are the state flower here in Texas and I found some blooming at the university yesterday. Among some other blooms, magnolias, camilias, and the same Japanese maples I took in the fall are starting to bud new leaves!

But my all time favorites are the silhouettes of birds in trees. At least it’s not fungi.

It won’t be long before the silhouettes will be overtaken by bushy leaves in the trees. I do love a leaf less tree for photo taking purposes. And really they are rather cool looking.  Especially when there are birds in them! I really do love these.

What will Spring Bring? Hopefully some new and unknown territories. But I’m afraid the answer my friend is blowing in the wind, the answer is blowing in the wind…but whatever it is I hope it’s good for everyone! We all need something good these days.

Sunny Days will be around the Corner…I’m guessing..

But not today. Incoming dreariness! Dreary indeed. And incoming more FUNGI! But I find I see some interesting things on these dreary walkabouts. Unfortunately, it’s about the same things, so you’ve been warned. There were a lot more fungi I couldn’t get too, the rain had made some flooded spots, I definitely need rain boots!

I think this will be my last bit of redundancy! the redundant fungi, the redundant puddles, the cloudy skies..the wet death of winter. Because March will be here soon. Spring break! I plan to do a little camping and hopefully sunny days will be around the corner…I’m only guessing…the whole world is in a state of dreariness, it’s hard to believe in anything…

I’m not completely satisfied with my walkabout haul today. I was more distracted than anything, and I was trying to embrace the last bit of the winter into my lungs, looking more at the sky, but also searching inward that I couldn’t capture through the lens. Maybe just a state of ease, letting the air fill my lungs with hope, anticipation for the next weeks to come.

Change Taking Place

After Valentine’s Day and the success of the paper hearts, I’ve not figured out my next grand mush gesture. Perhaps, flowers? Perhaps more weirdo birdos…I’m leaning on ostriches. I just feel like a total awkward ostrich. Ugh. Minus the height. I wanted to embody the beautiful and graceful crane, but I am not there yet. Changes are taking place, even as I write, the buds are starting to emerge. Luckily I have photos to prove the emergence of spring in all it’s colorful glory! As well as more fungi or course. Spring is on its way. Something tells me it’s going to be about the same. I don’t know. It’s hard to be hopeful for anything right now. And if there’s anything we can count on, it’s the seasons that come and go. The rise and fall of the setting sun. The constants in our life. I grasp onto that, and simultaneously grow and emerge along with nature. That’s a beautiful thought at least. Because I know I’ll still stay the same no matter what. Stay in my comfortable bubble. Change take place, within me. Let this weirdo birdo fly!

I just couldn’t resist a puddle, but I had to show you the green in the puddles, if you see!
