Not too Late

Image

These two objects don’t really go together at all (tomato and coffee mug if you were wondering what those two objects were) but they were on my straw mat this morning as I was meditating. I advise that coffee really isn’t something you want to be drinking while trying to meditate. I simply just could not focus! Jitter bug that I am…

The tomato came from my very own tomato plant and it’s just about to turn red ( I pick them early because I have some pesky birds that will try to eat them if I don’t pick it early enough). I guess green tomatoes are bitter and so is black coffee…that would be the only correlation with the two (that and they come from some kind of plant). How do I turn those into a meditation practice? Well, I didn’t, I just turned it into an opportunity to draw!

It’s not too late to find random things and turn it into some creativity!

Cake…it’s what’s for dinner

Image

….I think if I could have cake everyday I would be a much happier person. Being as I do have some form of self-control, I’ll save cake for those special moments. OR NOT.

“cake is such a delightful treaty sweet” (not sweety treat…treaty sweet…)

But there will be a day when Isaac comes home from work and he’ll ask, “what do you want for dinner?” and I will smile and shout “CAKE!… IT’S WHAT’S FOR DINNER!!” It’ll throw him off a bit, but…living with me he’s probably use to something weird and preposterous. Hey, if he can have beer for dinner, I can have cake and then we’ll both be little happy mushy people holding cake and beer in our hands…

Hmm…tomorrow, be sure to check out a drawing of this future event of me and Isaac doing just that!

oh and that’s CRAZY FACE  on the right. Watch out for CRAZY FACE, I draw one in my journal entry every day (almost…I have been known to skip days and weeks in my journal).

CABBAGE HEAD!

Image

Do you know what happens when you mix a lot of rain, combined with an awesome vegetable garden? You get: GIANT CABBAGE HEAD!

Or when you eat entirely too much cabbage, go outside in the rain, and up sprouts a …GIANT CABBAGE HEAD!

Sometimes when you imagine a world full of nothing but awesome vegetable gardens with a large amount of awesome thunderstorms you get: GIANT CABBAGE HEAD!

okay…the key word is rain (oh and cabbage). So we’ve gotten a lot of rain and I purchased this giant cabbage from a local farm here outside of town ( http://texadus.com/) and I couldn’t believe the size of this thing (it was twice the size of my head). I was inspired instantly to draw a cabbage head. Actually I purchased this almost a month ago, had the idea since then but have procrastinated this long into drawing it. But…it’s real, it grew, and it became my head.

So…if you can imagine here with me a person sitting on a couch, a laptop in front of them, typing away at a blog with a giant cabbage for a head, then you’ve fully described…ME! and I’m not ashamed of it. Everything around me is suddenly all green, I taste dirt and cabbage…and please don’t get me near a sauna for fear I might become steamed cabbage head. I might just eat my own head. Oh, and don’t think about making me into coleslaw, this head ain’t for chopping!

Llama Mama!

Image

” Howdy!” –Bahama Mama Llama

Yes, this is an attempt to draw a llama. She was actually a llama I met and took a photo with. (an embarrassing photo…but, eh, I’ll post it for ya!). Do I know whether she was female or not?? …No, but she had a matriarchal quality about her. Plus, she looked full and pregnant to me. I really don’t know, she could have just been so full of food that people throw at her. I know that she was eyeballing my bag of feed that I had! But anyway, we’re going to assume she is a mama and her name is Bahama Mama Llama cause she’s quite the cool and sassy type! Her hair just cried for a brushing and a shaving, but you could tell she was just wild and carefree, like a bahama mama would be.

My pen was running out of ink and I’m too lazy to go out and buy a new one. Just to let you know, this won’t be the last time you see or hear from Bahama Mama Llama!! or…Bahama Llama Mama…both sound pretty good to me.

A day at the beach!

Image

We live about 3  1/2 hours from the gulf coast and its not very often that we go. Yesterday just happened to be one of those. Day Trippers! …

Not only did we get to travel to the coastal area of Texas, but we also traveled through the national forests such as the Big Thicket. It’s on our to do list to go hiking and camping there (oh and to spot Sasquatch…he’s been rumored to have been spotted in the Big Thicket). I should really get out and enjoy these areas around me! and the coast (I know the Gulf’s waters are pretty brown, so what) was really beautiful. I love being on the beach and being able to enjoy nature. I think this time of year is the best time to go as the water is nice and cool, it tends to be a lot warmer in the summer time. Doing donuts in the sand was fun, just don’t piss off any old crotchety men…which we did. I recommend the Bolivar Peninsula and the beaches there. But if you want to go to Galveston island, it’s just a ferry’s trip away.

Now…to apply more aloe vera gel. Yes, the sun can be beautiful and cruel…

Wine!

Image

So I’ve been looking at this bottle of wine at the grocery store for a while because of its cool looking label! Yes, I suppose I judge a wine by its cover. I’m not the middle sister, but I am a rebel sister, and this is a red rebel wine. It combines zinfandel, merlot, and cabernet. I didn’t know what to expect! I thought what the heck since I’ve started a “finer things club” with Isaac (he’s choosing cigars and I’m choosing wine and coffee). It’s time to start experiencing different tastes and textures and just…learn a thing or two about wine or the region it came from, and then go there!

It’s only once or twice a month cause these finer things can get a little expensive. I was also thinking that it can include a number of things like art (which I love and think going to different art exhibits would be great) and reading more books so that instead of watching mind numbing television or staring at a computer screen, I could be expanding the imagination! and looking at art is also a great inspiration for my own code mush art. bleh…which comes and goes as far as plans and ideas go. I’ll always start one project or think of something to do and then get busy with work and just let it ferment with momentum that I eventually lose interest. and then I go bleh with that and move on to something else. I do believe I have short momentum…

but onto the “finer things club”…I love this! I mean, it’s not snooty or anything, I just want to enlighten the senses if you will. I guess instead of calling it a “finer things club” we should call it “enlightening the senses club”…ahhh, that’s more like it!

Okay…Middle Sister red rebel wine…”how was it??”

The taste is rather sweet but great after dinner, like a nice dessert. But, I’m not going to pretend like I know anything about wine except what kind of food might go with it. I don’t know the regions, etc. I do know this is a California table wine! so…what does that mean? See…I’m clueless, but as I discover more I will discuss more, and maybe my senses will be delighted  enlightened.

Its code mush enough! it’s like the THUNDERDOME OF CHEESE! EXCEPT ITS THE THUNDERDOME OF ENLIGHTENMENT!! how thunderous!

More Fish

Image

So…to take a break from my failing series of faces (referring to last post’s drawing), I went back to more dreams of fish. and it’s not such a loss because it gives me practice on drawing fish and color schemin’s (I made a word up)…so yay for me! I am getting better at drawing everyday if I practice. And this is from someone who did take drawing classes in college. and drew incessantly in high school..SO..I hope you like it. Now, I just wish I had taken painting. But for code mush this is okay. Here is the painting from another angle:

Ordinary

Ordinary Mushy Faces…

Image

This is just an ordinary face watercolor that I did today for my series of faces. I like the design of it but as far as the faces go…bleh. I’m guessing they’re pretty code mush looking. But I want more fine art looking you know? I’m not that great with fine art and that’s probably why I won’t make it as a talented artist. BLEH. but it is practice.

Code Mush faces

I love to draw faces. I think that’s what I immediately want to draw when pen and paper are at my grasp…I am currently working on a series of faces. “mushy faces”…umm…I’m not sure what I’ll call it. But here is a sample of my current project.

Mushy Octopus!

(….I know this post has nothing to do with octopus)

Truthfully, I haven’t been drawing much. My new year’s resolution gone down the drain…

But I have been working on other goals such as: daily yoga, meditation, and self-discovery! Hah… And I have to say they are going very well. But through self-discovery, maybe I will learn other skills besides drawing that I really dig. Isaac is working on learning survival skills. He has already learned how to make a fire with a bow string (pretty awesome isn’t it?) …We plan on learning how to build a shelter in the woods and to hunt. And to grow our own food. Yeah, I have to say that in the near or distant future I see…(getting out the crystal ball here…) a cabin in the woods, with two dogs, chickens, cows, an orchard, a garden, and a very happy couple just living off the land).

I think we both want to get back into the earth. Through discovery and adventure! I hope.

Speaking of adventure, have you ever thought of deep sea diving? Would you see a mushy octopus?…hmm…maybe.
