I know that it has been quite some time since I’ve posted any art onto my blog, and also for illustration friday. I think my last entry was probably my best one I’ve done so far for I.F. and received a lot of great comments! Thanks for everyone who did, and sorry I did not respond to them. For this week, as I try to get my priorities straight (art and drawing being one of them, but sadly sometimes gets tossed aside), I decided to practice with collage, with color, and shapes. I think this helps me start “seeing” creatively again. And working fast, so that I can go onto something else in my sketchbook to help me wake up that part of my brain I’ve been neglecting.
So as I brought out my art box, I noticed that I had some little squares of origami paper which I have been saving and saving because I just loved the patterns on them. In fact, I might just scan some of the paper so you can see how beautiful the paper is. I’m not good at making origami at all, not near as good as my awesome boyfriend. He can figure it out, and I just can’t keep my attention on trying to fold perfectly long enough.
I thought, “hey, I’m going to finally use you paper, even though I don’t really want to cut you up!” and I used the topic this week, “disguise.” I thought that the fans on the paper kind of looked cool to try and hide the mouth (if you notice on the red paper). Well, I hope this helps me create some more collage and also draw some more today!
